The effects of 8 weeks of combined aerobic and resistance exercise on the amount of appetite, calorie intake and body composition in overweight women

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of 8 weeks of combined aerobic and resistance exercise on the amount of appetite, calorie intake and body composition in overweight women.
Methodology: 30 of the inactive women of star Golsar sports club with age ranging from (35 to 25) years formed the subjects of this study. They were divided into two 15 people groups (aerobic and resistance exercise, 15 people control) exercise was done for 8 weeks and 3 days per week for 90 minute workouts. Exercises were included resistance exercise in three times of 18-16 repetitions for each move by 50 to 40 percent of one maximum repetition that were increased in the second month to 50-65 percent of one repetition maximum. Then, aerobic exercise was started, and it was 20-15 minutes of aerobic exercise on a treadmill at the beginning with the intensity of 50-40 percent of maximum heart rate and gradually with the progress of training program with 80-70 percent of maximum heart rate and 20 minutes at the end of a cycle ergometer. Then standardized tests (body composition, calories and appetite) were taken.
Results: Comparing pre and post test scores showed that there is a significant difference (P˂0.05) in the exercise group at variable imagined of eating (P=0.02), starvation (P=0.05), satiety, desire for food, body mass, subcutaneous fat and lean body mass. There is a significant increase in the control group in body mass index (P˂0.05). Considering that the calories in the post-test training group showed a decrease, but it was not statistically significant. Changes between groups in two control and trained groups were also showed significant differences in the variables of desire for food (P=0.00), imagine of eating (P=0.04), calories (P=0.00) and body mass (P=0.00). But in subcutaneous fat and fat-free mass variables between the two groups were not significantly different.
Discussion: It can be concluded a simultaneous training course of resistance – aerobic is affected on the indicators of body composition, food intake and appetite in overweight women.
