Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between non-verbal communication among physical education instructors on emotional responses and student satisfaction.
Methodology: The statistical population of the study consisted of all students participating in the general physical education department of Imam Reza International University. 105 samples were selected randomly according to Morgan sample size table. In order to collect information in this study, a standard questionnaire (Jang & Yoon, 2011), which consists of 27 terms and contains three variables of non-verbal communication, emotional responses and satisfaction. In order to confirm the content validity, the questionnaire was given to 5 professors which no opposite opinion was received, Cronbach's alpha test was used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire. The reliability of non-verbal communication and emotional response and satisfaction questionnaire was .930 and .924 and .946 respondently. Finally, the data was analyzed in two parts: descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, and frequency of data) and inferential statistics (KS test, correlation, regression testing, and one-sample t test) that was performed using SPSS 24 software.
Results: Findings showed that there was a significant correlation between non-verbal communication and all its components with students satisfaction variable (r = 0.822). Also, non-verbal communication components had the ability to predict 46% of the positive emotional response variable and 16% of the negative emotional response variable. On the other hand, 67% of satisfaction changes are related to positive emotional responses and 33% of satisfaction changes related to negative emotional responses.
Discussion: According to the results and due to the importance of the role of non-verbal communication, emotional responses and students' satisfaction in developing the quality of education of the university's physical education unit, Paying attention to these variables and trying to improve it can be an effective step towards better evaluation of human resources in the organization and directing them in the proper direction of providing appropriate educational services and improving the quality of their performance.
