Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between leadership styles of male and female sports coaches in private and public clubs of Tehran city.
Methodology: The statistical population included all sports coaches in private clubs and public clubs. The research sample was randomly assigned among these coaches (n = 150). Maghsoudi (2009) coach leadership styles questionnaire was used to collect the information of male sports coaches and female sports coaches in private sports clubs and public sports clubs of Tehran city. The reliability of this questionnaire has been reported by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient 0.76. The questionnaire has 30 questions, based on the five-point Likert scale, which consists of four leadership styles of coaches, that is including imperative leadership style (with 9 questions), collaborative (with 8 questions), transferred (with 5 questions), and a justification (with 8 questions). To analyze the data, descriptive statistics were used and multivariate regression was used to investigate the relationship.
Results: The results of the study showed that there is no significant relationship between leadership styles of male coaches and female coaches in private clubs and public clubs of Tehran city (p> 0.05), but the results of the study showed there are two imperative leadership styles and transferred leadership styles among male and female mentors in private clubs and public clubs of Tehran city, (p <0.05).
Discussion: In general, it can be concluded that male and female mentors in private sports clubs and public sports clubs generally use the two imperative and transferred leadership styles.
