The effect of advanced core stability training on postural control of Iranian Deaf Paralympic wrestlers

Introduction: Balance is an integral part of daily life activities and a key component of high-level sport performance. Core stability training increase motor control and muscle capacity to maintain various body postures.
Methodology: The present study was pre- and post-test, and the subjects of this study were the National Deaf wrestlers dispatched to the 2017 Turkish Olympic Games. To evaluate postural control, a dynamic computerized posturography system and sensory organization test were used in six different situations, along with manipulation sensory afferent. The advanced core stability training program had 45 minutes,three sessions per week, along with a routine wrestling training program that lasted for 8 weeks. Before and after intervention, postural control strategies and balance were evaluated in subjects.
Results: The results of the study showed that eight weeks of advanced core stability training for Deaflympic wrestlers led to improved overall balance and postural control. In fact, in all three sensory manipulations of vision loss, proprioception manipulation- vision manipulation. The post-test results showed better postural control conditions than pre-test (p <0.05). Also, there was a significant difference in body oscillations in all three senses, vision loss, properoception manipulation, auditory manipulation – proprioception manipulation in pre-test and post-test in horizontal axis (p <0.05).
Discussion: Hearing impairment results in imbalances that are evident in the results. Given the importance of postural control it can be said that deaf wrestlers can do advanced stability exercises programs to prepare and improve balance during their specialized exercises. Balanced exercises are likely to improve profound sense precision that are responsible for finding the direction and position of the joint, and increase the sensitivity of feedbacks directions, shorten the onset of proper muscle contraction, improve the Integration of the muscles.
