Study of perception, satisfaction and attitude of young-age men to weight and body image

Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate perception, satisfaction and attitude of young-age men to weight and body image.
Methodology: The target population consisted entirely of Harsin province men. Researcher-made questionnaire which was developed to measure perception satisfaction and attitude of young-age men to weight and body image distributed between 100 men age 20-30 years randomly. After translation questionnaires were evaluated by professors faculty of physical education and sport sciences. The reliability analysis yielded cronbach alpha values of 0.82. The first part of questionnaires include demographic questions, the second part include questions men self-steem. The final (third) part includes 22 questions about weight control methods and how to receive ideal weight the collected data was analyzed by descriptive method include mean± SE percent (p<0.05).
Results: The mean ±SE of height, weight and age of subjects was 177±6.75 cm, 78.03±15.08 kg and 25.25±3.35 yr, respectively. Results showed that 89% of men were obese and 36.36 of lean men didn’t satisfy with their weight. Also 11.11% of obese subjects thought that they were lean and 59% of subject wanted to be thinner. The usual weight loss methods was (aerobic exercise 42%, diet and exercise 24.5% delete meal 14% diet 12.5%) and weight gain method were (body building 27.7%, increase food and body building 25% increase food 22.2% eating more promises 11.1% and drug use 8.3%).
Discussion: The results showed that the perception young-age men from body image weren’t properly. Most of them tend to weight loss, and didn’t satisfy with their current weight. Therefore, more attention to perception sates faction and attitude of middle-age men to weight and body image is necessary .
