Comparing of athletic and non athletic students mental health and happiness

Abstract
Introduction: Physical education and sports are considered as one of the inseparable parts of modern societies. The role and importance of physical activity has been known among societies from long time a go, and this has led the people to increase their knowledge of the positive and predictive effects of Physical activity development. With the expansion of industrial societies, mental illness has also spread,exercise is one of the most important things that can affect the management of mental illness and its reduction. The aim of this research was comparing the mental health and happiness of the athlete and non-athlete in the secondary school with comparative and descriptive methods.
Methodology: The statistical population of this study is all of the male students of secondary school Mamasani township from Fars province. The statistical population of the study according to the statistics of the Department of Education is 2000 individuals . According to Ali Delawar's book, which is in the descriptive study of a large sample of 100 members, and in the semi-experimental studies of a large sample of 30, a sample of 50, was considered.The data gathering tool was Oxford Happiness Standard and Mental Health (GHQ) Goldberg questionnaire. The reliability of both questionnaires was 87% and 88%, respectively. Data were analyzed by using independent t-test and SPSS software.
Results: The results of the study indicated that there was no significant difference between the mean happiness and mental health of athlete and non athlete students.
Discussion: According to the findings of this research, the lack of adequate attention and insufficient support of sports teachers and school administrators, lack of sports facilities and inappropriate nutrition are among the most important factors in this field.) Happiness t = 134.1 and t mental health (t = - 0.657 (sig = 0.000).
