Comparison the effects of McKenzie's exercises and massage therapy on the pain and general health of women with chronic low back pain

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of McKenzie's exercises and massage therapy on the pain and general health of women with chronic low back pain.
Methodology: In this study, 36 female patients with chronic low back pain were selected. Patients were randomly divided into three groups that 12 Patients in the experimental group of McKenzie's exercises (mean age 46.92 years), 12 patients in the experimental group received massage therapy (mean age 44.17) and 12 patients in the control group (mean age 44.08) were placed. Massage experimental group for eight weeks, three times a week and each session were given an hour massage. The experimental group also practiced McKenzie's exercises for eight weeks, three times a week for an hour to do. The control group did not perform certain exercises. The general health of all participants with the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ28) and pain was measured by the McGill pain questionnaire. To analyze the data, independent t test was used at a significance level 0.05.
Results: The results showed that after eight weeks of treatment, the massage group and McKenzie on pain no significant difference (P = 0.327). But the general health of the massage group (P = 0.036) compared to the McKenzie's exercises is improved.
Discussion: Finally we can say more research is needed to be the best time and method of therapy to reduce pain and improve the general health of patients with low back pain is unclear But according to the results of the study, it can be said that massage and McKenzie exercises can together be a good supplement to chronic low back pain.
