The Effect of Yoga Exercises on the Scores of Functional Movements Screening Test in Females of Roller Skater Teenage

Abstract
Introduction: Due to increase injuries of roller skaters, Screening before participating in sports activities is imperative. Functional movements screening test is one of the best methods for identifying people who are susceptible to injury and it also measures athletes' performance levels. On the other hand, research has shown that Yoga exercises have been instrumental in improving the physical fitness of athletes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is determine the effect of yoga exercises on the scores of functional movements screening test in females of roller skater teenage.
Methodology: In this study, 24 volunteers were selected and placed randomly in two experimental (mean ± standard deviation: 11.1 ± 1.4 years, height 133 ± 13.1 cm, weight 34.9 ± 9.9 kg) and control group (mean ± standard deviation: 11.3 ± 1.6 years, height 141.9 ± 10.4 cm, weight 35.2 ± 5.9 Kg). Screening of functional movements were performed before and after the implementation of the yoga exercises protocol (8 weeks, 3 sessions, and 60 minutes each session) in order to measure the risk of injury. Independent t-test and dependent t-test were used to analyze the data. For qualitative data, Wilcoxon and U-Mann-Whitney tests were used at significant level of (P <0.05).
Results: There was a significant difference in the results of all tests in the comparison of pre-test and post-test.
Discussion: From the findings of this study it can be concluded that, yoga asana is effective in improving the screening score and can be used as a model and training program to prevent injury and prepare athletes, who are at risk of injury. Therefore, these exercises are recommended to improve the performance of roller skaters.
