Comparison of Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development with the Economic Situation and Parent Level of Education

Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of the research is comparison of affordances in the home environment for children physical development with the economic situation and parent’s level of education the method of research is descriptive and surveying in collecting data.
Methodology: Statistical society were families with children about 18 to 42 month in Tehran statistical sample was about 485 families with child in age 18 to 42 month that collected voluntarily in 16 health center of the urban community in Tehran by method of multi-stage cluster sampling. parents completed self-report questionnaire of affordances in the home environment for motor development of children about 18 to 42 (AHEMD-SR) months that include 67 questions an five scales of outside space, inside space, variety of simulation fine motor toys and gross motor and family and child related section. Findings of this research analyzed according to descriptive characteristics, eta correlation coefficient, progressive regression and one-way analysis of variance.
Results: Descriptive characteristics results showed that children home environment affordance level is medium and enough stimulation and available for children physical development. Correlation test results showed a positive and meaning full relation between total score and five affordance dimensions with economic situation, parent level of education.progressive regression results showed mothers education level with family's economic situation have predictability and influence in home affordance about 33% in statistical sample and 10%in statistical society. Also, it was fund there is a significant difference between affordance score with parent education level, so high level of mother’s education caused child affordance in the home environment with effect size 15% and about fathers with effect size 7%. There significant difference between father with Master/Ph.D. education and other groups. Also there was a significant difference with 5% effect size with affordance total score and economic situation.
Discussion: Total results showed that parents education level and family’s economic situation has impressive Impact as a part if wide and important range of peripheral tissue in child growth in microsystem groping. So children with high level of economic and social situation experience more appropriate qualitative and quantitative affordance in the home environment in line of physical development.
