Abstract
Introduction: Nowadays, physical fitness of bodily characteristics are utilized in talent identification and assessing the physical fitness of athletes. The purpose of this study was to profiled the body composition, anthropometric and physical fitness qualities of Iranian National hockey players, and quantified relationships between these characteristics.
Methodology: The sample of this study was 25 national Adult indoor hockey players (Age: 23.54±3.48). Body composition factors: (weight, BMI, WHR , body fat percentage, muscle mass) and Anthropometric indexes: weight, BMI, sitting height, the Arms’ length were measured. Also, Physical Fitness variables: 36 meters’ shuttle run, Illinois test, standing long jump, bending forward, 1600 meters, sit and reach, and Zig Zag jumps test characteristics were measured.
Results: The findings showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between aerobic power and anaerobic power on the one hand and aerobic power and body fat percentage on the other. In addition, there is a positive and significant relationship between agility with a speed of 36 meter. It should be noted that there is a significant relationship between agility with a speed of 36 meter, agility with BMI and a speed of 36 meter with BMI. Furthermore, there is a positive and strong correlation between height on the one hand and basal metabolic ratio and long jump on the other. Moreover, there appeared to be a reverse significant relationship between aerobic power and anaerobic power (p<0.05).
Discussion: To conclude, Iran’s national team players possess an optimal level in almost all indices of anthropometry, body composition and physical fitness.
