The effect of playground activities on behavioral incompatibilities in students with mental retardation

Abstract
Introduction: The playground activities design is a new and useful project that is being implemented in our schools and aims to increase student physical activity, However, the results of this design are unclear on behavioral incompatibility of mentally retarded children. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of playground activities on behavioral incompatibility in Mentally retarded students of 7 to 11 years old.
Methodology: The statistical population of this study was mental retardation children in Ahvaz city, in the range of the ages of 7 to 11 and the rational age of 5 to 7 years old. The subjects have a range of IQ in 50 to 70 and are classified as educational children and are studying in the academic year 2017-2018. From this community, 30 individuals were randomly selected from two schools of mental retardation in Ahvaz city. Students of first school benefit from the playground activities of school, and other school students spend their leisure time and sports time in the normal yard without equipment and supplies. The research design was pre-test and post-test. The data gathering tool in this study was Lambert and et al. adaptive behavior (1974). Data were analyzed by covariance test and SPSS software version 22.
Results: The results showed that playground activities have a significant effect on the behavioral incompatibilities of the students with mental retardation in Ahvaz.
Discussion: Therefore, it is suggested that, the schools of children with mental retardation use the playground activities to benefit students from it.
